About the Role
Seeking a smart and self-motivated attorney to partner with commercial/sales, channel marketing, and brand marketing teams, providing day-to-day legal counsel across a broad portfolio of alcoholic beverages. This role focuses on marketing, advertising, promotional, and commercial matters, requiring strong commercial judgment and practical problem-solving skills.
Responsibilities
- Support Sales, Marketing, and Channel & Customer Marketing teams with legal needs and provide day-to-day advice.
- Advise on federal and state alcohol beverage laws, tied-house restrictions, and trade practices compliance.
- Review and advise on marketing materials, claims, promotions, sampling programs, activations, and event sponsorships.
- Train personnel on advertising, marketing, and trade practices compliance, including FTC endorsement guidelines, social media, and responsible marketing standards.
- Review, draft, and negotiate contracts for marketing services, sponsorships, ecommerce, endorsements, and joint promotions.
- Research and stay updated on legal and policy issues in the alcohol beverage industry, advertising, and digital media.
- Support Group Counsel on internal and external projects and initiatives, including providing trainings.
Requirements
- At least 4 years of legal experience at a law firm and/or in-house legal department, preferably in-house at a consumer goods company.
- Experience reviewing, drafting, and negotiating commercial agreements.
- Experience advising on marketing, promotions, sponsorships, or digital media matters is preferred.
- Must be able to be regularly present at the office location at least three days/week.
- Necessary business travel estimated at approximately 5%.
