About the Role
The Consumer Lending Indirect Underwriter evaluates consumer loan applications to determine creditworthiness through indirect channels or third-party vendors. This role involves analyzing financial information, credit reports, and other data to make informed lending decisions while ensuring compliance with company policies, regulations, and risk management practices.
Responsibilities
- Analyze loan applications by evaluating credit reports, application information, and financial documents to determine applicants’ ability to repay, ensuring all loan decisions comply with company policies and guidelines.
- Collaborate with the underwriting team, sales teams, and senior management to ensure a smooth and efficient loan process.
- Provide recommendations for loan approval or denial to the Loan Review Committee or Underwriting Manager when applicable.
- Maintain and handle dealer relationships, ensuring effective communication and loan accuracy.
- Identify potential fraud or misrepresentation in loan applications.
- Communicate effectively with dealers or other third-party vendors to clarify underwriting requirements and ensure loan accuracy.
- Make loan decisions, answer phones, and respond to queries within established dealer service levels.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum of 2 years in Consumer Underwriting, Consumer Lending, or a related field; experience collaborating with dealers is preferable.
- Strong understanding of underwriting guidelines, credit risk assessment, and lending regulations.
- Strong organizational skills to manage a high volume of loan applications.
- Proficient in Excel, Outlook, and Word; experience with LOS navigation (ARC system) and DNA.
