About the Role
As a Sales Counselor, you will play an important role in interacting and engaging with all leads to market the community to our future residents. You will also serve as the public relations liaison to the community. Join our team and inspire happiness in the lives of others!
Responsibilities
- Effectively communicate community retirement programs and increase sales to meet established goals by using a variety of contacts including community outreach, resident referrals, in-house events, and seminars.
- Conduct community tours for future residents and visitors, coordinating with internal teams for community openings and transfer needs.
- Respond to inquiries about community and admission requirements, maintain inquiry files, and contact prospects to arrange tours or follow up.
- Conduct tours on a flexible schedule, including outside regular business hours, and perform home presentations as needed.
- Complete, review, and process admissions documents accurately and oversee the move-in process.
- Assist with special events for prospects, new residents, and community organizations.
- Cultivate and maintain a schedule of speaking engagements and presentations at local organizations and events to promote community programs.
- Assist with outreach visits to area resources to generate sales and develop a referral database.
- Monitor and provide Lead Management reports to management.
- Coordinate with insurance and Business Office to identify benefits and provide clinical indication for continued stay.
- Communicate and monitor sales goals, objectives, and quotas, and ensure departmental budget objectives are achieved.
- Expand knowledge of the senior housing industry, sales, and marketing trends by attending training, reviewing publications, and networking.
- Develop and execute sales strategies to promote and sell the Cortana expansion, including identifying prospects, presenting opportunities, and achieving sales goals.
- Develop emerging leadership through professional growth and development.
- Perform duties in a courteous manner and maintain hospitality standards.
- Support and represent Buckner at special events and assigned functions.
- Travel as needed to monitor, assess, and help develop programs.
- Assist in creating and updating community brochures, fliers, and invitations, and create prospect newsletters.
- Submit articles and stories to the Communications Department for publications and website updates.
- Maintain compliance with all Buckner policies, procedures, and requirements, as well as state and federal laws.
- Work successfully as part of a team and develop strong working relationships with co-workers.
- Attend and participate in staff meetings and training.
- Perform general office tasks as required.
- Perform special assignments, projects, and other duties as required.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, or related field preferred.
- 1-3 years of prior related experience with hospital or retirement community marketing, sales, and/or admissions required.
- High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Recent computer training or experience preferred.
- Word processing and spreadsheet experience required.
- Ability to work nights and weekends as needed.
- Proficient ability to speak, read, and write English professionally.
- Strong sense of diplomacy and demonstrated success in developing strong collaborative relationships.
- Ability to relate positively, influentially, and sensitively to a broad spectrum of persons.
- Ability to meet multiple deadlines by maintaining a high level of organization.
- Demonstrated strong analytical skills, including synthesizing information and focusing on the essence of an issue.

- Ability to travel to various geographic locations, both domestic and international, with some overnight stays.
- Ability to obtain and maintain necessary documentation for air travel and vehicle rental.
- Ability to drive assigned vehicles or personal vehicle with appropriate license and insurance.
- Must be age 21 or older to drive on behalf of Buckner.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Detail-oriented skills necessary to understand and manage a wide range of information.
- Proficient working knowledge and ability to accurately and timely operate computer-related tasks with specific equipment and software applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Professional commitment to Christian principles and teachings aligned with Buckner’s mission, vision, and values.
- Ability to use up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 20 pounds frequently, and 10 pounds continuously to move objects.
- Ability to speak clearly and make self understood in face-to-face interactions and on the phone.

- Ability to effectively work under pressure and remain flexible as priorities change.
- Ability to speak in front of groups.
- Ability to work under minimal supervision, exercise sound judgment, and maintain confidentiality.
- Sufficient good health to properly discharge duties; employees with infectious disease or skin lesion will not be permitted to work for the duration of communicability.
