About the Role

The Functional Family Therapy Child Welfare (FFT-CW) Clinician provides FFT services to children and families involved in the child welfare system, aiming to improve family functioning, communication, and problem-solving skills through short-term intervention in the family's home. This role requires adherence to the FFT philosophy and adaptability to individualize interventions using family strengths.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct clinical services to approximately 8-9 families monthly, including outreach, assessment, treatment planning, weekly family therapy, crisis counseling, and community consultation.
• Coordinate treatment with other community agencies and service providers.
• Participate in program development, training, and meetings as designated.
• Maintain up-to-date and complete case records, including documentation and written reports.
• Complete the required number of client contacts per month.
• Adhere to agency policies, procedures, and Department of Social Services contract guidelines.
• Provide 24-hour telephonic crisis intervention services on a rotating basis.
• Be flexible with working hours due to program nature.
• Maintain appropriate professional standards.
• Perform other designated or related duties.

Requirements

• Master’s Degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, or a related field.
• Eligibility for certification as a functional family therapist and completion of training within 12 months post-hire.
• Demonstrated effective communication skills and ability to work successfully with diverse populations.
• Ability to work hours that accommodate after-school meetings with families.
• Reliability, ability to work independently, and understanding of confidentiality.
• Valid Driver’s License and a satisfactory driving record.
• Current New York State Defensive Driving certification.
• Strong computer knowledge including typing, communication tools, scheduling tools, and web browsers.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and database management systems.
• Fluency in English (Reading, Writing, Speaking).
• Must be cleared and maintain clearance by applicable regulatory bodies.
• Legally eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.

• Knowledge of common challenges associated with child welfare involved families.
• Understanding of the impact of culture on mental health practices.
• Familiarity with and ability to effectively use an Electronic Health Record system.
• Strong Crisis intervention skills.
• Excellent problem-solving skills.
• Bilingual Spanish preferred.
