About the Role

Valhalla Animal Hospital is seeking licensed veterinary technicians to support its growing team of DVMs. The role involves providing comprehensive care to a variety of animal patients, utilizing advanced medical equipment and techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Animal restraint
  • Triage of incoming patients
  • Collection and analysis of lab samples
  • Diagnostic imaging
  • Management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases
  • Administration of medications
  • Effective communication of treatment plans with clients
  • Surgical preparation and assistance
  • Anesthetic management
  • Withstand unpleasant odors and noises
  • Handle potential exposure to bites, scratches, animal waste, and contagious diseases

Requirements

  • Actively Licensed Veterinary Technician, or license eligible in the state of NY
  • If not holding an active NY LVT license, must be eligible for and pass the VTNE within 3 months of hire
  • High work ethic and positive attitude
  • Ability to arrive on-time and ready to work
  • Some Saturday availability
  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Ability to communicate precisely
  • Interpret medical records and record client history accurately
  • Knowledge in preventative care, surgical procedures, and hospital flow
  • Ability to restrain pets in a low-stress and safe manner
  • Proficient in sample collection (blood, urine, fecal, skin)
  • Ability to properly set-up and process laboratory samples and tests
  • Proficient in positioning and capturing radiographs, including dental radiographs
  • Proficient in anesthesia and surgical monitoring
  • Self-starter with a desire to continue to advance knowledge and skillset
  • Ability to receive constructive feedback professionally
  • Authorization and completion of a satisfactory background check may be required
