About the Role
Valhalla Animal Hospital is seeking licensed veterinary technicians to support its growing team of DVMs. The role involves providing comprehensive care to a variety of animal patients, utilizing advanced medical equipment and techniques.
Responsibilities
- Animal restraint
- Triage of incoming patients
- Collection and analysis of lab samples
- Diagnostic imaging
- Management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases
- Administration of medications
- Effective communication of treatment plans with clients
- Surgical preparation and assistance
- Anesthetic management
- Withstand unpleasant odors and noises
- Handle potential exposure to bites, scratches, animal waste, and contagious diseases
Requirements
- Actively Licensed Veterinary Technician, or license eligible in the state of NY
- If not holding an active NY LVT license, must be eligible for and pass the VTNE within 3 months of hire
- High work ethic and positive attitude
- Ability to arrive on-time and ready to work
- Some Saturday availability
- Exceptional customer service skills
- Ability to communicate precisely
- Interpret medical records and record client history accurately
- Knowledge in preventative care, surgical procedures, and hospital flow
- Ability to restrain pets in a low-stress and safe manner
- Proficient in sample collection (blood, urine, fecal, skin)
- Ability to properly set-up and process laboratory samples and tests
- Proficient in positioning and capturing radiographs, including dental radiographs
- Proficient in anesthesia and surgical monitoring
- Self-starter with a desire to continue to advance knowledge and skillset
- Ability to receive constructive feedback professionally
- Authorization and completion of a satisfactory background check may be required
