About the Role
The Communications Assistant is responsible for providing support for external communication needs and the communications team's administrative tasks at Fountain House. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, an excellent writer, and passionate about social justice and its impact on mental health. This role offers the opportunity to gain experience in all aspects of communications, including administrative, editorial, media monitoring, and web-related tasks.
Responsibilities
- Updating websites and coordinating periodic internal reviews to ensure accuracy, relevance, and message continuity.
- Managing SWAG inventory, supply ordering and tracking, meeting and tour scheduling.
- Updating our online presence, digital, website, press, and social media.
- Capturing Fountain House content for social media purposes, and working alongside the Director of Communications and Marketing to publish.
- Providing support and helping plan events coordinated by the Communications team.
- Supporting press and media monitoring efforts and research.
- Assisting with administrative tasks such as monitoring the Communications email inbox and responding to inquiries.
- Assisting with miscellaneous tasks related to the success of Communications projects.
Requirements
- An interest in mental health issues and passion for alleviating the associated stigma.
- Creativity shining through in writing.
- Multitasking and flexibility as a core skill.
- Ability to work with a team to reach a common goal.
- Bachelor’s degree, with a major in English, Journalism, Communications or related field, or combination of prior work experience and internships in similar positions required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite and familiarity with project management platforms like Asana.
- Experience working Adobe CS, Canva and email marketing tools (Campaign Monitor, Mailchimp etc.).
