About the Role

This role is key to delivering DofE’s fundraising ambitions across Scotland, securing philanthropic investment to achieve strategic goals and ensure more young people can access life-changing opportunities. You will manage and grow a portfolio of major donors, Trusts and Foundations, securing significant gifts and developing long-term partnerships. You will also identify, cultivate, and secure new funding opportunities, building a strong pipeline and diversifying income sources.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and grow a portfolio of major donors, and Trusts and Foundations.
  • Secure five- and six-figure gifts.
  • Develop long-term partnerships that support DofE’s strategic priorities across Scotland.
  • Identify, cultivate and secure new funding opportunities.
  • Build a strong pipeline of prospects.
  • Diversify income sources.
  • Develop compelling cases for support.
  • Create tailored funding proposals.
  • Deliver outstanding stewardship that inspires donors to deepen their engagement with DofE.
  • Represent the charity at meetings, events and networking opportunities.
  • Build strong relationships with donors, funders, volunteers and stakeholders.
  • Bring insight into Scotland’s philanthropic landscape.
  • Help shape fundraising activity that supports sustainable income growth.
  • Work across teams to identify funding opportunities.
  • Develop impactful funding propositions.
  • Ensure supporters receive an exceptional experience.

Requirements

  • Proven track record of securing and managing significant gifts from Trusts and Foundations and major donors.
  • Experience developing and managing a pipeline of prospects, moving supporters successfully from identification through to solicitation and stewardship.
  • Strong relationship management skills with the ability to engage, influence and inspire a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Experience of developing compelling funding proposals, applications and cases of support tailored to donor interests.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across teams to identify opportunities and develop fundraising solutions.
  • Strong networking skills and the ability to identify, create and maximise opportunities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present complex information clearly and persuasively.
  • A self-motivated, proactive and resilient approach with the ability to work independently and as part of a wider team.
  • A passion for creating opportunities for young people and a commitment to DofE’s vision, values and commitment to inclusion.
  • Must undergo an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.
  • Must provide references covering any gaps of employment/education.
  • Must confirm eligibility to work in the UK.
  • Must complete a health check.
