About the Role
The MS Sales business operations team oversees Microsoft's revenue reporting process, collaborating with data partners and business users to resolve data or functional issues. This role is crucial for managing end-to-end revenue publishing, identifying and fixing data and code issues, and testing new features. The team also educates external users, analyzes data for reporting accuracy and efficiency, and supports production issues.
Responsibilities
- Write, test, and schedule audits for data validation reports using SQL Stored Procedures, Views, and Functions.
- Collect and analyze large and complex data sets.
- Validate data to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Conduct ad-hoc analysis, solve data discrepancies, and generate actionable business insights.
- Handle Level 2 Service Requests from business users.
- Provide support for production issues during non-business hours.
- Understand data lineage, data quality, and relationships.
- Monitor data extract, transform, and load jobs and respond to failures.
- Provide development support for assigned platforms and applications.
- Document knowledge base articles for Tier-1 and Tier-2 support.
- Dedicate 20%-30% of time to development efforts, including automation, data quality checks, application feature development, tabular model development, bug fixes, and reporting.
- Perform data engineering activities such as developing and enhancing tools, solutions, and processes based on data analysis and new customer requirements.
- Collaborate with clients and team members for performance improvement and suggestions.
Requirements
- Intermediate to expert level experience in Microsoft SQL Server, including writing complex queries, debugging stored procedures, DB performance improvement, and developing quality audits.
- Intermediate level experience in PowerBI and Excel (VBA, Lookups, pivots, etc.).
- Working knowledge of Azure stack (Synapse, Spark/Python, SQL Azure, Azure Data Factory).
- Ability to quickly ramp up on Azure technologies.
- Experience with project management tools like Azure DevOps (ADO) or JIRA.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work with customer stakeholders and cross-functional teams by effectively understanding business requirements.
- Ability to work in an agile environment, deal with ambiguity, and apply critical thinking to achieve results within SLAs.
- Systematic and logical approach to problem-solving.
- Prior experience in Microsoft landscape or Corporate finance space is preferred.
- Willingness to learn new technologies.
