About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Accountant to assist with month-end close processes and manage complex general ledger accounting functions. This role focuses on technical accounting with additional operational support responsibilities, requiring strong experience in GL reconciliations, accrual accounting, and financial close processes within a fast-paced fintech environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
- Prepare, review, and post complex journal entries
- Perform GL, balance sheet, intercompany, and bank reconciliations
- Analyze account activity and prepare variance explanations
- Maintain fixed asset schedules, including capitalization, depreciation, and disposals
- Manage lease accounting entries (ASC 842 or similar)
- Prepare and maintain accrual schedules and supporting documentation
- Support financial reporting, audits, and compliance requirements
- Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies
- Ensure accurate account coding and classification
- Support AP processes, including invoice and credit card expense review
- Document and improve accounting processes and procedures
- Assist with training and process improvements
Requirements
- 4+ years of hands-on general ledger accounting experience
- Strong experience with month-end close processes
- Strong experience with bank and balance sheet reconciliations
- Strong experience with fixed asset accounting
- Strong experience with lease accounting (ASC 842 or similar)
- Strong experience with accrual accounting and journal entries
- Corporate accounting experience
- Experience working in fast-paced or growing organizations
- Experience with ERP systems such as NetSuite, Dynamics 365, Workday, or similar
- Advanced Excel skills
- Familiarity with GL reconciliation tools preferred
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
- Highly organized and methodical approach
- Strong communication and documentation skills
- Ability to independently manage deadlines and priorities
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Honest and transparent approach to experience and capabilities
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- CPA or CPA candidate preferred
- Fintech or mortgage lending experience preferred
- Big 4 audit or accounting background preferred
- Experience with accounting systems (NetSuite, LoanVision, Ramp, FloQast, or similar) preferred
- Multi-entity or multi-location accounting experience preferred
- Process improvement or accounting system implementation experience preferred
- GL expert
- Direct, hands-on accounting experience
- Can independently own the month-end close process
- Works carefully, accurately, and methodically
- Communicates clearly and documents thoroughly
- Brings strong judgment and problem-solving skills to complex accounting issues
