About the Role

The Material Handling Associate I is responsible for stocking and delivering supplies to all hospital departments using par-level stocking and individual department requisitions. This position requires good customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Answers telephone in a pleasant and courteous manner within three rings, identifying self and department.
• Handles telephone supply requests from calling departments in a timely and courteous manner.
• Directs calls or takes messages for the appropriate individual if unable to answer a caller's question.
• Accurately maintains par-level locations with adequate supplies, notifying the Supervisor of any necessary changes.
• Ensures all par-levels are arranged in an orderly manner, rotating supplies to prevent outdates.
• Adjusts the quantity of par-level supplies as department needs change.
• Identifies potential outdates for use in other parts of the facility or return for credit.
• Assists personnel from all hospital departments courteously when dispensing supplies or answering questions related to ordering.
• Seeks information if unable to answer questions.
• Ensures supplies in the stockroom are rotated using the first-in, first-out method.
• Exhibits knowledge of all supplies dispensed from the stockroom.
• Assists the Inventory Control Clerk with monthly cycle counts as directed.
• Performs other duties as required.

Requirements

• High School graduate or equivalent.
• Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.
• Organizational skills with the ability to work within a designed time frame.
