About the Role
This role involves assisting with the delivery of LIN212H1S – American Sign Language 2, an introductory ASL course for students with minimal prior knowledge. The course builds on ASL 1, immersing students in the language, literature, culture, and community associated with ASL, while enhancing comprehension and production skills through content-specific conversations and interactive activities.
Responsibilities
- Grading of assignments, tests, and exams
- Invigilation of tests/exams
- Teaching of tutorials (if applicable)
- Assisting instructors with the design and implementation of assignments, tests, and exams
- Timely email communication with the instructor
Requirements
- Fluent in ASL and English
- Documentation of native or near-native fluency in ASL is required
- Knowledge of Deaf culture and/or lived experience with a Deaf community
- Minimum Level 5 of ASLPI for ASL proficiency
- Familiarity with various ASL curriculums, such as Signing Naturally and TRUE+WAY ASL (TWA)
