About the Role
The Product Management Manager is responsible for attracting, retaining, and developing top talent focused on assessing market needs and inspiring cross-functional product teams to achieve value. This role guides and executes the delivery of business value to drive sales, improve efficiency, and enhance customer satisfaction through quality product production.
Responsibilities
- Align product teams and feature sets, identifying dependencies.
- Understand customer and associate needs to deliver enterprise products that provide an unparalleled shopping experience.
- Translate business goals and end-user needs into product strategy, communicating direction and priorities.
- Meet with users and stakeholders to understand processes, pain points, and system waste to improve user experience.
- Create epics to drive improvements to product vision, features, and backend systems, adjusting for new business models.
- Determine the business value of anticipated product updates.
- Identify goals, metrics, and analytics to measure product performance, making recommendations based on learnings.
- Review recommended solutions and product team work to ensure alignment with company, stakeholder, and end-user priorities.
- Document, review, and ensure quality and change control standards are met.
- Remove roadblocks and obstacles to ensure product delivery meets strategic, financial, and technical goals.
- Receive and prioritize incoming requests from business partners and stakeholders based on business strategy, product vision, and user needs.
- Provide regular progress updates to leadership regarding products within the portfolio.
- Provide leadership, mentoring, and coaching to Product Managers.
- Attract, retain, and develop top talent to build a world-class Product Management Team.
- Conduct annual and mid-year reviews, development plan reviews, and provide performance feedback.
- Foster collaboration with team members (Engineering, UX, etc.) to drive value and identify/resolve impediments.
- Act as a proponent of modern software development practices.
- Advocate for the end-user and stakeholder by understanding user needs.
- Assess progress with the product team, disseminate lessons learned, and understand next steps.
- Manage cross-functional team and stakeholder expectations to execute product strategy.
- Provide education to requestors to determine prioritization based on tangible benefits and/or user experience.
- Guide more junior team members in strategy, alignment, analysis, and execution tasks.
- Participate in and contribute to learning activities around modern software design and development core practices.
Requirements
- Must be eighteen years of age or older.
- Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.
- 5-7 years of relevant work experience.
- Proficiency in working as a Product Manager in a modern software development based enterprise environment and overseeing multiple products.
- Proficiency in modern software development product management practices and agile methodologies, specifically the extreme programming (XP) principles of paired programming, test driven development, and continuous deployment.
- Proficiency in working in a fast-paced, fluid environment where priorities shift on a regular basis.
- Proficiency in communicating with and influencing functional and technical team members at all levels in the organization.
- Proficiency in working as part of a collaborative, cross-functional, modern software design and development team.
- Proficiency in creating, prioritizing, and accepting epics and user stories.
- Proficiency in conducting user research and testing to understand needs.
- Proficiency in identifying goals, metrics, and analytics to measure product value.
- Experience conducting competitive research and analysis.
- Experience guiding more junior team members through Product Management fundamentals in a professional setting.
- Experience balancing workloads across teams.
- Proficiency in active listening and communicating at all levels (Executive Leadership Team, store associates, etc.) while gracefully managing expectations of multiple stakeholders.
