About the Role

The Latin America Credit Risk Management credit team manages the credit risk inherent in Deutsche Bank’s business activities with Latin American clients. As a Credit Officer, you will handle loan, derivative, and trade-related approvals, set and monitor counterparty credit limits, and negotiate credit terms.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the risk of a portfolio of Latin American counterparties across different jurisdictions and asset classes.
  • Approve or decline credit transactions for Latin American clients, ensuring alignment with risk appetite and compliance with Deutsche Bank’s credit standards.
  • Analyze risk elements of credit transactions in Latin America, assessing counterparty credit strength and identifying structural weaknesses.
  • Assess transaction risks based on structure, collateral, credit enhancements, and documentation, recommending enhancements.
  • Define and negotiate credit terms in legal documentation to ensure proactive risk management.
  • Assist in rating and structuring transactions for optimal risk/return outcomes.
  • Act as an intermediary between business units and senior credit committees for credit approval and monitoring.
  • Monitor individual credit/risk positions and developments within portfolios, ensuring regulatory compliance.

Requirements

  • Moderate experience in credit (corporates/financial institutions) in Latin American markets.
  • Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or related fields.
  • Fluency in Spanish is strongly preferred. Portuguese a plus.
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of capital markets products, including vanilla and complex derivatives, as well as commercial banking products (loans, trade finance).
  • Strong understanding of basic trading documentation and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Experience in negotiation of derivative contracts and loan documentation.
  • Strong interpersonal, leadership and communications skills (verbal and written) in English and Spanish.
  • Significant degree of independence and sound judgment with good attention to details.
  • Strong analytical skills; ability to quickly analyze and assess complex transactions.
  • Self-motivated; takes ownership for own career management, seeking opportunities for continuous development.
  • Actively supports the Business strategy, plans and values, contributing to a high-performance culture.
