About the Role
Session Assistants support the day-to-day operations of outpatient infusion services. In this role, you will register patients, obtain demographic and insurance information, record patient history, and ensure proper scheduling for various procedures and appointments. You will also assist patients with electronic portal sign-ups, perform notification calls, and schedule appointments with multiple specialties, including coordinating with OR scheduling teams. Your primary focus will be to provide a reassuring presence for patients navigating their hospital experience.
Responsibilities
- Register patients for a variety of procedures and appointments
- Obtain demographic details and insurance information
- Ensure proper scheduling
- Record patient history
- Obtain pre-certification and authorization for patients
- Enter pertinent patient demographic and insurance information into computer systems
- Assist patients to sign up for hospital and physicians electronic portal
- Perform notification phone calls to relay procedure or surgery preparation information
- Schedule patients’ appointment with multiple specialties including exams and medical procedures
- Schedule surgery encounters and coordinate OR location and times with OR scheduling teams
- Interface with referring provider offices and internal departments to schedule appointments
Requirements
- 1 year of clerical experience
- High school diploma or GED
- Customer service experience
- All roles require on-site presence
- Employees should live within a commutable distance to NYP
Skills
- Knowledge of health insurance benefits/requirements
- Knowledge of Coding: ICD 10
- Energetic, approachable individuals with a desire to put patients first
