About the Role
Oversee all day-to-day HR administration for a growing company, including payroll processing, employee benefits, workers' compensation, leave administration, and serving as the primary point of contact for employee HR matters. The ideal candidate is proactive, highly organized, maintains strict confidentiality, and enjoys helping employees while ensuring compliance with employment laws and company policies.
Responsibilities
- Process weekly and bi-weekly payroll accurately and on time.
- Maintain employee payroll records and deductions.
- Coordinate payroll changes including new hires, raises, bonuses, and terminations.
- Reconcile payroll reports and assist with year-end reporting.
- Maintain employee personnel files and HR documentation.
- Coordinate onboarding and offboarding activities.
- Prepare offer letters, employment documents, and new hire paperwork.
- Track employee attendance, PTO, and leave requests.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment regulations.
- Update employee handbook and HR policies as needed.
- Administer benefit programs.
- Assist employees with benefit questions and enrollments.
- Liaise with insurance brokers and benefit providers.
- Manage all workplace accident and injury reporting.
- Coordinate workers' compensation claims.
- Maintain OSHA logs and required documentation.
- Work with supervisors to investigate incidents and recommend corrective actions.
- Track claim status and return-to-work documentation.
- Respond to employee HR questions and concerns.
- Assist managers with employee documentation and disciplinary matters.
- Support employee engagement initiatives.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding all personnel matters.
- Complete I-9s and employment verification.
- Maintain labor law postings and compliance documentation.
- Coordinate required employee training.
- Prepare HR reports and metrics for management.
- Maintain HRIS and employee databases.
Requirements
- 3+ years of Human Resources experience.
- Payroll processing experience required.
- Experience administering employee benefits.
- Knowledge of workers' compensation claims and accident reporting.
- Familiarity with federal and New York employment laws.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel.
- Experience with payroll and HR software.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- High degree of professionalism and confidentiality.
