About the Role

The Assistant Manager, ROMKids (12-month Contract) supports the delivery and development of care-based programming for children and youth aged 2-14, with a focus on Summer Club, Camps, and early years programming. This role provides on-the-ground leadership during program delivery and contributes to the design and enhancement of new learning experiences, blending operations, program development, and people leadership.

Responsibilities

Support the day-to-day delivery of ROMKids programs, including Summer Club, Camps, and early years programming.
Provide on-the-ground leadership during program delivery by supervising staff and volunteers.
Ensure adherence to schedules, procedures, and safety standards.
Collaborate with the ROMKids team to design, develop, and enhance engaging, play- and inquiry-based learning experiences.
Contribute to curriculum updates, pilot programs, and new initiatives.
Support staff and volunteer management, including hiring, onboarding, training, scheduling, and ongoing coaching.
Coordinate program logistics, including attendance tracking, materials preparation, and communication with families.
Promote inclusive, welcoming, and developmentally appropriate environments.
Support program evaluation by collecting data, contributing to reports, and identifying opportunities for improvement.
Monitor program budgets and support tracking of operational expenses.
Act as a first point of contact for day-to-day issues and support resolution of concerns.
Support the implementation of care-based practices, child protection protocols, and health and safety standards.
Perform other related duties in support of ROMKids programming and operations.

Requirements

A university degree in Education, Museum Studies, Child & Youth Studies, or a related field.
5–7 years of experience in camps, childcare, early years, or youth-focused programming.
Experience supervising staff or volunteers in active, program-based environments.
Experience supporting program development, evaluation, and/or operational coordination.
Strong understanding of play-based, inquiry-based, and care-centered learning approaches.
Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities in dynamic, fast-paced environments.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
Positive Vulnerable Sector Screening.
Availability to work weekends and flexible hours, including early mornings and evenings.
