About the Role
We have a fantastic opportunity for a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer with an electrical bias to join our Cam site, near Dursley in Gloucestershire. Reporting directly to the Engineering Manager, the role supports the Production team in delivering high-quality products on time by maintaining plant equipment and ensuring timely breakdown resolution to minimize downtime. As an equipment owner, you will take ownership of all systems and electrical applications, ensuring plant compliance with safety legislation. Responsibilities include proactive and reactive maintenance, repair of equipment, and ownership of follow-on and improvement activities. The role emphasizes minimizing waste and downtime, initiating root cause analysis on significant failures, and requires strong communication skills for information sharing and SAP recording. You will be responsible for assessing situations and required actions before escalation. Working hours are shift-based with clearly defined 'Production Focused' and 'Planned Maintenance Focused' periods, operating on an 8-hour double days pattern (Mon-Fri, 6-2 & 2-10), with a third week on days (Wed-Sun, 8-4) and on-call duties. Responsibilities
- Support the Production team in delivering the highest quality product, on time and in full.
- Maintain the plant and ensure all breakdowns are dealt with in a timely manner to minimize downtime.
- Take ownership of all systems & electrical applications.
- Ensure the plant fully complies with all safety legislation.
- Perform proactive and reactive maintenance and repair of equipment.
- Take ownership of follow-on and improvement activities as required.
- Minimize waste and downtime across the site.
- Initiate RCA on significant failures.
- Share information with all relevant parties (both skilled and unskilled).
- Record all key information in SAP.
- Take responsibility in assessing situations and required action before resorting to further escalation.
- Undertake reactive maintenance, support changeovers, attend daily meetings and support production when required (when Production Focused).
- Undertake planned maintenance, attend the daily engineering meeting, work closely with stores function and Maintenance Planner (when Planned Maintenance focused).
- Support Production as backup for the Production Focused engineer (when Planned Maintenance focused).
- Diagnose and resolve simple and complex breakdowns.
- Competent in both mechanical and electrical systems.
Requirements
- Electrical Engineering Apprenticeship or equivalent.
- Multi-skilled / cross-skilled capability.
- Minimum NVQ level 3.
- BTEC ONC / City and Guilds or equivalent in engineering discipline.
- Aptitude for process awareness.
- Strong diagnostic / trouble-shooting experience gained in a Hi-volume manufacturing or process environment.
- Strong knowledge & experience of manufacturing electro/mechanical automated equipment & processes including pneumatic, hydraulic and instrumentation-controlled systems.
- Proficient with Computers.
- Familiar with Computerised Maintenance Management Systems SAP.
- 5 years manufacturing, packaging and processing experiences.
- Food industry experience would be a bonus.
- PLC programming or diagnostics would be a bonus.
- Knowledge & experience with facilities plant, Boilers (steam or Hot water), refrigeration, air handling, effluent treatments plants.
