About the Role
Lightspeed Restoration of Austin is hiring a dependable, hands-on Construction Laborer Restoration Trainee to assist with water damage cleanup, mold remediation, demolition, cleaning, and basic property repairs. No restoration experience is required as paid training and certifications are provided. Candidates with backgrounds in construction, drywall, painting, maintenance, landscaping, cleaning, moving, handyman work, or other hands-on trades are encouraged to apply. Candidates with drywall, texture, painting, trim, or basic repair experience may qualify for a higher starting rate.
Responsibilities
- Remove wet carpet, drywall, baseboards, flooring, cabinets, and other damaged materials
- Extract water using pumps, wet vacuums, and professional equipment
- Set up air movers, dehumidifiers, and air scrubbers
- Build containment using plastic sheeting and zipper doors
- Assist with moisture readings, photos, and job documentation
- Safely remove and bag mold-affected materials
- HEPA-vacuum, clean, sanitize, and deodorize surfaces
- Apply approved antimicrobial products and encapsulants
- Load and haul debris
- Protect customer belongings and finished surfaces
- Safely operate hand and power tools
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe jobsites
- Communicate professionally with customers and team members
- Use mobile apps for photos, notes, and documentation
- Assist with drywall installation and patching
- Assist with taping, floating, and texturing
- Assist with interior painting and touch-ups
- Assist with baseboard and trim installation
- Assist with minor carpentry and handyman repairs
Requirements
- Dependable, punctual, and willing to work
- Strong work ethic and positive attitude
- Construction, demolition, maintenance, handyman, moving, landscaping, or cleaning experience
- Experience using hand and power tools
- Comfortable performing physical and sometimes dirty work
- Ability to follow detailed safety procedures
- Comfortable using smartphones and mobile apps
- Professional communication and customer-service skills
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
- Lift and carry up to 75 pounds
- Squat, kneel, crawl, bend, and climb ladders
- Work in attics, crawl spaces, confined areas, and varying temperatures
- Wear respirators, protective suits, gloves, and other PPE
- Perform physically demanding work throughout the day
