About the Role

As a member of the IT development team, the Business Systems Analyst is responsible for delivering technical implementation tasks for business operations, configuring software, and building and testing applications. This role requires documenting and explaining implementation concepts to both technical and business teams.

Responsibilities

• Designs software configuration to meet business process design and application requirements.
• Elicits, analyzes, and documents requirements and/or functional specifications, including determining system impact and software configuration.
• Participates with business units and internal functions throughout development, testing, and implementation processes.
• Researches and evaluates alternative approaches, recommending efficient and cost-effective solutions.
• Defines business needs and elicits business requirements, producing artifacts like business requirements and process flow diagrams for product implementation.
• Prepares and executes test strategies/plans, performing QA testing on configuration, software modifications, reports/dashboards, and third-party integrations.
• Works with other developers, designers, and architects to ensure configuration and custom components meet application requirements and performance goals.
• Understands the functional impact of various configuration options.
• Actively participates in training modules, staying current with technology trends.
• Works with system integration staff, third-party software vendors, and in-house IT staff.
• Performs other related duties and activities as required.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in information systems, computer science, or a related field required.
• 3+ years of Business Systems Analysis experience, preferably within the financial services industry.
• Experience in Property & Casualty (P&C) insurance is highly preferred.
• Intermediate experience working with data query tools such as SQL or Python required.
• Advanced experience with software applications, including Microsoft Office - Word, PowerPoint, Excel.
• Understanding and experience working within the framework of a complete SDLC, covering requirements gathering, system design, QA testing, UAT and ongoing maintenance.
• Experience with implementation of insurance policy, claims and finance administration platforms a plus.
• Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to clearly interpret and relay information professionally.
• Ability to communicate effectively with both business and technical staff.
• Strong ability to gather, organize, analyze and present data.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple tasks while meeting deadlines.
• Proven record of complex problem solving and decision making.
• Skilled in tracking project aspects utilizing project management software.
• Ability to maintain a cooperative, courteous, and professional relationship with other departments, employees, management, and insureds; ability to communicate effectively with diplomacy and professionalism.
