About the Role

The Schwarzman Animal Medical Center is seeking a Licensed Veterinary Technician to serve the Cardiology Department and support its non-profit mission of delivering world-class patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional and compassionate care for patients from admission through discharge.
  • Support veterinarians in all facets of care, including interpreting and executing treatment directives.
  • Complete all necessary technical procedures and treatments, adhering strictly to department and hospital protocols.
  • Communicate professionally with clients and referral veterinarians.
  • Maintain concise and accurate records of patient treatment progress and charges.
  • Maintain stock, order supplies, and assist with cleaning and maintaining ward cleanliness.
  • Participate in the training of new employees and volunteers.
  • Participate in educational and research projects.
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • NYS Veterinary Technician’s license (or permit) with general practice and anesthesia experience.
  • Ability to handle and restrain all species of animal.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to bend or kneel for extended periods while helping with patient restraint and not mind getting wet.
  • Must be able to work successfully as part of a team.
  • Must be able to work independently and proactively.
  • Ability to follow detailed directions and established protocols.
  • Basic computer skills are required.
  • Ability to correctly complete a large amount of paperwork is necessary.
  • Must have flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and additional hours as needed.
  • Some experience in cardiology is preferred but not required.
