About the Role
The Schwarzman Animal Medical Center is seeking a Licensed Veterinary Technician to serve the Cardiology Department and support its non-profit mission of delivering world-class patient care.
Responsibilities
- Provide exceptional and compassionate care for patients from admission through discharge.
- Support veterinarians in all facets of care, including interpreting and executing treatment directives.
- Complete all necessary technical procedures and treatments, adhering strictly to department and hospital protocols.
- Communicate professionally with clients and referral veterinarians.
- Maintain concise and accurate records of patient treatment progress and charges.
- Maintain stock, order supplies, and assist with cleaning and maintaining ward cleanliness.
- Participate in the training of new employees and volunteers.
- Participate in educational and research projects.
- Perform all other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- NYS Veterinary Technician’s license (or permit) with general practice and anesthesia experience.
- Ability to handle and restrain all species of animal.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
- Must be able to bend or kneel for extended periods while helping with patient restraint and not mind getting wet.
- Must be able to work successfully as part of a team.
- Must be able to work independently and proactively.
- Ability to follow detailed directions and established protocols.
- Basic computer skills are required.
- Ability to correctly complete a large amount of paperwork is necessary.
- Must have flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and additional hours as needed.
- Some experience in cardiology is preferred but not required.
