About the Role

Manages the respite program, overseeing staff selection, supervision, training, and ensuring quality direct services. Assists in program development and outreach.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for appropriate staffing activities including selection, supervision, and retention of staff.
  • Utilizes and manages human resources effectively, making recommendations for staffing patterns, scheduling, and assignments.
  • Responsible for staff training and ongoing development to improve quality of care.
  • Assists in the development and maintenance of program policies and procedures.
  • Serves as a liaison between the individual, family, and program.
  • Assists in coordination of individual scheduling.
  • Maintains all individual records.
  • Participates in team conferences and program internal reviews.
  • Assists with intakes and removals.
  • Performs CPR and Strategies for Crisis Intervention and Prevention (SCIP-R).
  • Complies with all agency policies and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Responsible for the supervision and development of respite staff.
  • Performs yearly performance observations of respite staff.

Requirements

  • Associates degree in Human Services or related area and 1 year of experience, or 3 years combination of Education and Human Service experience.
  • Completion of and/or enrollment in agency Management Training.
  • Valid New York State Driver’s License that meets agency policy.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to meet physical requirements of the position including standing, walking, sitting, bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling and climbing.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Ability to lift and transfer individuals manually and mechanically.
  • Ability to move, reposition and place individuals in equipment.
  • Physical agility and ability to react to emergency situations.
  • Maintains Strategies for Crisis Intervention and Prevention (SCIP-R) certification as per regulatory guidelines.
  • CPR certification required.
