About the Role
TPG Real Estate Finance is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Fund Controller to oversee accounting, operational, and financial reporting for Real Estate Finance vehicles. This role serves as a key liaison between internal teams and external partners, ensuring financial accuracy and compliance in an institutional setting.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and coordinate with third-party administrators for NAV estimates, financial statements, and investor reporting, ensuring adherence to US GAAP and TPG standards.
- Perform and review complex calculations for management fees, expense allocations, and GP promote/carried interest distributions.
- Review quarterly and annual audited financial statements, including footnote disclosures and supplemental schedules, acting as the primary audit contact.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on technical accounting, consulting with auditors and tax advisors on complex transactions and regulatory issues.
- Review and approve capital call and distribution calculations, ensuring compliance with the LPA and distribution waterfalls.
- Partner with Investor Relations to fulfill bespoke reporting requests and provide financial data for investor inquiries.
- Coordinate with internal tax, legal, valuation, and operational teams to support deal closings, valuation committees, and regulatory filings.
- Identify and implement process enhancements to improve accounting and reporting efficiency and scale.
Requirements
- 5-8 years of relevant financial services experience, preferably starting in public accounting (Big 4) followed by private equity or real estate investment management.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Experience with industry-standard accounting systems (e.g., Yardi, Investran, or MRI).
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, capable of explaining complex financial information to non-accounting stakeholders.
- Proactive, detail-oriented approach with the ability to work independently in a deadline-driven environment.
