About the Role

Blacksmith is extending its CI infrastructure into a broader platform, running agent sandboxes at scale and building its own background coding agent. This role will build and run the content engine, design launch narratives, turn customers into stories, set the bar for technical content, and extend content across various formats.

Responsibilities

  • Build and run the content engine to ensure a reliable cadence of technical content.
  • Design launch narratives, including announcements, explainers, and demos.
  • Identify and write compelling content based on customer success stories and engineering achievements.
  • Create high-quality technical content such as deep dives, benchmarks, teardowns, comparisons, and essays.
  • Extend content reach through various formats including video, YouTube, docs, changelogs, and conference talks.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience writing for a technical audience (developer media, technical content marketing, DevRel, or engineering-adjacent journalism).
  • Published work that has gained significant traction (e.g., front page of Hacker News, quoted threads, widely shared posts).
  • Ability to understand and credibly present technical concepts.
  • Skill in interviewing engineers and extracting compelling stories from technical documents.
  • Ability to write with a strong point of view.
  • Deep understanding of online developer communities and trends (Hacker News, X, social chatter).
  • Ability to work autonomously and determine content priorities.
