About the Role
Under direct supervision, assist mechanics of higher grade and perform simpler types of manual work in the Underground Electric Field Operations department. This role is responsible for installing and maintaining National Grid's Underground Electric Assets. There are opportunities for promotion through the Mechanic series (Helper→A→B→C) based on increased proficiency and continued training.
Responsibilities
- Assist mechanics of higher grade.
- Perform simpler types of manual work.
Requirements
- Must be mechanically inclined.
- Capable of performing strenuous work.
- Possess a valid driver's license with a safe driving history meeting National Grid’s Safe Driver policy.
- Must pass physical abilities evaluation.
- Must pass validated aptitude test.
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to obtain a CDL A within 6 months.
- Currently holding a CDL A is preferred.
- Must have the ability to work without the need for current or future visa sponsorship.
- Incumbents are subject to federal Drug & Alcohol safety regulations (DOT, FMCSA, PHMSA).
- Newly hired employees are bound by the terms of a collective bargaining agreement.
