About the Role

The wellness coach provides comprehensive wellbeing and injury prevention services, engaging employees in positive lifestyle initiatives to improve health, lower chronic disease risk, and reduce healthcare costs. The role involves proactively engaging employees around their health and wellbeing to empower them with the knowledge and skills to take an active role in their health and safety outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement employee engagement initiatives promoting physical activity, healthy weight management, mindfulness/stress reduction, tobacco cessation, and other wellbeing activities.
  • Coordinate and lead group engagement sessions such as safety talks, stretch and flex programs, lunch and learns, seminars, and presentations.
  • Conduct biometric screenings and body composition testing events to support population health and facilitate coaching interactions.
  • Promote safety awareness and injury prevention initiatives, identifying and referring employees to health and safety resources.
  • Facilitate high levels of population engagement by understanding client initiatives, unique needs, and benefit resources.
  • Educate and connect employees to client resources and benefits, supporting their participation.
  • Follow and facilitate a proactive monthly engagement plan using the client site service delivery calendar and resource library.
  • Work closely with client stakeholders, such as HR, benefits, or safety teams, to integrate wellness and injury prevention initiatives into the client culture.
  • Proactively engage employees to support behavior change, health behavior change, and higher levels of health and wellbeing.
  • Perform proactive site walks or rounds to maintain high visibility and accessibility among employees.
  • Promote employee health awareness, mental wellbeing, and body mindfulness to provide individual coaching and resources.
  • Proactively offer individual blood pressure checks and body composition testing and facilitate person-centered coaching interactions.
  • Conduct individual health consults to explore employee interests and goals, identify motivators, and create personalized health improvement plans.
  • Monitor employee health and behavior progress by reviewing data and adjusting coaching strategies.
  • Provide resources from the library and other evidence-based sources to support employee health interests and goals.
  • Provide referral coaching and resources while maintaining professional boundaries and following protocols.
  • Engage employees in monthly health and safety topics, using activities and questions to prompt thinking and behavior activation.
  • Follow up with employees to maintain engagement and increase the frequency and impact of coaching interactions.
  • Conduct daily proactive site walks or rounds to engage the employee population in mindful and safe work practices.
  • Promote employee body awareness and mindfulness coaching to identify potential musculoskeletal injury risks and provide coaching and resources.
  • Identify and address potential individual safety and musculoskeletal risks by engaging, educating, demonstrating, and following up with employees.
  • Coach employees in understanding and applying principles of continuous learning to improve workplace safety and reduce injury risk.
  • Ensure timely and accurate data entry documenting coaching activities and employee consults while protecting health information privacy.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams or client site vendors for a coordinated workplace safety and injury prevention approach.
  • Complete additional client-site paperwork, documentation, and reporting promptly and accurately.
  • Arrive and leave the client site according to the agreed-upon schedule and communicate any schedule changes.
  • Be accessible with high visibility at least 80% of the day to maximize engagement and coach employees.
  • Be familiar with the client site’s emergency and safety protocols.
  • Manage time effectively and work independently to deliver high-quality onsite service.
  • Ensure accurate and timely data entry by the end of business each day to ensure HIPAA compliance.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date data entry related to coaching activities and employee engagement.
  • Maintain the highest level of confidentiality and discretion, following company policies and privacy laws.
  • Attend required team meetings and operations manager meetings.
  • Attend and actively participate in four live, yearly mandatory skill-building sessions.
  • Complete additional Ramp Health trainings related to improving skills and maintaining compliance.
  • Maintain professional and timely communication with key site contacts, operations managers, and team members.
  • Work collaboratively with operations manager, key site contact, and onsite partners to ensure client needs are met.
  • Ensure Ramp Health equipment or materials are properly maintained, cleaned, and stored.
  • Demonstrate professionalism when working with other onsite partners and vendors.
  • Ensure positive, courteous, and respectful interaction with employees, management, and stakeholders.
  • Work collaboratively with Ramp Health and interdisciplinary team members to deliver outcomes related to risk factor reduction and chronic disease prevention.
  • Communicate promptly and professionally with operations manager regarding concerns related to job tasks, communication, incidents, and deliverables.
  • Be familiar with all Ramp Health products and provider services.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in health sciences or a related field.
  • Strong background in injury prevention is highly desirable and essential for construction, manufacturing, and transportation settings.
  • Demonstrated time management skills, ability to work proactively and independently in a fast-paced environment, and ease in prioritizing multiple tasks and deliverables.
  • Highly personable and comfortable with proactive outreach to new people and populations.
  • Strong presentation skills and confidence in sharing health information and coaching individuals as well as groups of all sizes.
  • 2+ years prior experience in health and wellness, wellness coaching, fitness, personal training, athletic training, nursing, PT, OT, or PT assistant.
  • 1+ Years of health and wellness coaching experience or equivalent person-centered experience in fitness, nutrition, or health promotion roles.
  • Experience utilizing behavior change science such as Stages of Change and motivational interviewing.
  • Proficient knowledge and skill in Microsoft Office and EMR/SOAP/ADIM data entry.
  • Experience taking a manual blood pressure.
