About the Role
The Hotel Houseperson is responsible for maintaining an exceptionally clean and inviting environment for hotel guests and responding to specific room supply requests in a timely manner, adhering to management's policies, procedures, quality standards, and services.
Responsibilities
- Maintain the cleanliness of guest floors and linen area, including vacuuming guest hallways daily.
- Use proper chemicals, tools, and equipment for guest room floor corridors, shampooing guest rooms and corridors, floor closets/storage rooms, service corridors, elevators, tracks and landings, guest vending areas, and stairwells.
- Transport Room Service trays and items from guest hallways to service elevator landings.
- Provide timely delivery of guest-requested items such as linens, cots, and extra amenities.
- Retrieve items from guest rooms and return them to proper storage areas.
- Respond to Front Desk calls for cash pay room checks, inspecting rooms and reporting damages or smoking.
- Ensure equitable linen/terry delivery for each floor.
- Turn over any lost and found items to the Supervisor.
- Ensure security of assigned keys, React Mobile, and Radio.
- Manage laundry for cleaning supplies, cloths, rags, and hotel linen on an assigned basis.
- Review assignment sheets, update completed assignments, and check for additional tasks.
- Report any damage or maintenance issues in guest rooms and public areas to the supervisor.
- Respond courteously and welcomingly to guest questions.
- Collect dirty glasses and take them to the hotel kitchen stewarding dishwasher area, then distribute clean glasses to each floor.
- Perform tasks assigned by supervisors as needed.
- Operate cleaning equipment safely following standard operating procedures.
- Maintain linen closets clean, stocked, and organized.
- Ensure inventory of guest room products is stocked for the room attendant cart.
- Remove items from hallways and transport them to service areas, including debris, food and beverage trays, soiled linens, and trash.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety protocols and maintain a safe and healthy environment.
Requirements
- Previous cleaning experience required, with preference given to hotel environments.
- Customer service experience required.
- Ability to lift, pull, and push moderate weight (minimum of 11.5 kg or 25 lbs).
- Ability to multi-task.
- Must be able to communicate effectively.
- Ability to operate basic cleaning equipment and laundry machines.
- Must have a safety mindset for self and others.
- Willing to submit to a criminal record check with acceptable results.
- Must have employment eligibility in Canada.
