Responsibilities
- Train and coach residents in activities of daily living and independent life skills, including personal care, room cleaning, laundry, budgeting, bill-paying, shopping, and socialization.
- Escort residents to medical, entitlement, and other appointments.
- Assist residents with room clean-outs and preparation for bed-bug treatments, including packing and laundry, while helping residents understand and cope with the process.
- Shop for program supplies.
- Run resident groups and activities.
- Assist residents in utilizing in-house programs, including outreach, set-up, and clean-up.
- Visit residents in hospitals, nursing homes, or other facilities.
- Work as a team member to establish and maintain a high level of care and respect for residents.
- Complete documentation of services provided.
- Work with other staff to ensure good communication with tenants.
- Work cooperatively with other staff members.
- Share information about tenant progress, needs, and problems with staff.
- Attend training sessions and conferences for job skill enhancement.
- Implement emergency procedures as necessary.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Experience working with a special needs population.
- At least 21 years of age.
- Emotionally, mentally, and physically able to perform job responsibilities.
- Able to speak, read, and write English.
