Responsibilities

  • Train and coach residents in activities of daily living and independent life skills, including personal care, room cleaning, laundry, budgeting, bill-paying, shopping, and socialization.
  • Escort residents to medical, entitlement, and other appointments.
  • Assist residents with room clean-outs and preparation for bed-bug treatments, including packing and laundry, while helping residents understand and cope with the process.
  • Shop for program supplies.
  • Run resident groups and activities.
  • Assist residents in utilizing in-house programs, including outreach, set-up, and clean-up.
  • Visit residents in hospitals, nursing homes, or other facilities.
  • Work as a team member to establish and maintain a high level of care and respect for residents.
  • Complete documentation of services provided.
  • Work with other staff to ensure good communication with tenants.
  • Work cooperatively with other staff members.
  • Share information about tenant progress, needs, and problems with staff.
  • Attend training sessions and conferences for job skill enhancement.
  • Implement emergency procedures as necessary.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience working with a special needs population.
  • At least 21 years of age.
  • Emotionally, mentally, and physically able to perform job responsibilities.
  • Able to speak, read, and write English.
