About the Role
The Financial Accountant will support the Finance function in various activities including financial reporting, BAU, financial planning, and budgeting processes. This role is part of a young but successful team and company, contributing to daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual financial processes.
Responsibilities
- Perform daily, weekly, monthly, and annual finance processes, including statutory, regulatory, and management reporting.
- Enter invoices and prepare reconciliations as part of the accounts payable and receivable function.
- Monitor and process financial transactions with lending customers and suppliers.
- Assist with reconciling bank statements and resolving discrepancies.
- Assist in reconciling general ledger accounts and ensuring proper transaction recording.
- Participate in the development and implementation of policies and procedures.
- Maintain and operate an effective internal control environment compliant with best practices and SOX obligations.
- Collaborate with other Arch Capital Group companies to ensure compliance with inter-company arrangements and provide ad-hoc assistance.
- Assist in responding to information requests from internal and external auditors.
- Perform ad-hoc finance tasks as required.
Requirements
- Prior experience and proficiency in Finance function including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and journal entry process.
- Proficiency in Australian GAAP, ideally within a general insurance environment.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver results under tight deadlines and competing objectives.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Strong communication skills in written and verbal formats; ability to address broad range of audiences including senior management, external stakeholders and technical experts.
- Focus on client and customer service.
- Willingness/ability to function as a member of a multi-disciplined, international team.
- Professional maturity and confidence.
- Bias towards action and self-direction.
- Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word skills are valuable.
- Incumbent may be asked to perform other duties as required.
