About the Role
The Ground Operations Crew loads and unloads customer bags, operates ground service equipment, coordinates aircraft servicing, prepares the cabin for departure, and assists with ramp duties. This role requires comfort serving customers, computer proficiency, and the ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
Responsibilities
- Operate ground service equipment, including motor vehicles, tugs, and de-icing equipment.
- Service aircraft by operating ground support equipment such as potable water trucks, ground power units, tugs, and lavatory trucks.
- Work in a ramp environment.
- Tag, lift, load, and unload customer bags (in excess of 100 lbs) from aircraft baggage compartments and baggage systems.
- Operate external aircraft equipment.
- Prepare aircraft cabins for customer boarding and departure, including cleaning seats, seat pockets, floors, galleys, and lavatories.
- Assist customers with special needs, such as boarding assistance.
- Guide aircraft to and from parking locations.
- Communicate effectively using a handheld radio with proper etiquette.
- Occasionally assist with loading and unloading mail, small packages, and human remains.
- Ensure and maintain a safe environment and operation.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- One year of customer service or sales experience.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Complete fluency in written and spoken English.
- Adhere to JetBlue Uniform Policy Manual Standards.
- Able to travel and work variable hours, including holidays and weekends.
- Able to follow safety guidelines.
- Able to perform under pressure and within fixed time constraints.
- Able to work in all types of weather conditions.
- Able to make occasional trips to other locations for training or temporary assignment.
- Able to give and receive verbal communication.
- Able to use handheld radios and headsets for communication.
- Maintain a positive, good-natured attitude.
- Ability to handle objects up to 50 lbs frequently and/or 70-100 lbs occasionally with assistance, and perform tasks requiring bending, crouching, or kneeling.
- Must be able to acquire and maintain a valid Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) Badge.
- May require acquisition and maintenance of United States Customs Clearance depending on location.
- Possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License and a driving record meeting insurance standards.
- Complete an assessment evaluating adaptability, safety orientation, and teamwork.
- Available for occasional overnight travel (10%).
- Must pass a pre-employment drug test.
- Must be legally eligible to work in the country of employment.
- Authorization to work in the US is required; this position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
- Internal candidates must be in good standing regarding attendance and safety performance.
