About the Role
Drives a bus or van on assigned routes and special assignments for the City of Peekskill. This role requires skill in operating a large automotive vehicle and responsibility for the safety and conduct of passengers.
Responsibilities
- Operates a bus or van on a regular schedule or special occasions.
- Checks the operating condition of the vehicle before trips and reports defects.
- Transports community groups to various locations for City of Peekskill programs.
- Assists elderly passengers with boarding.
- Maintains the interior and exterior cleanliness of the vehicle.
- May operate a station wagon or similar vehicle.
- May perform minor vehicle maintenance tasks.
- Maintains records of mileage, routes, times, and incidents.
- Prepares and maintains maps of routes and pick-up points.
- May perform daily errands related to facilities and programs.
- May perform general maintenance around the facility.
- May assist in scheduling and routing of vehicles and drivers.
Requirements
- Must possess a license appropriate to the vehicle to be operated at the time of appointment.
- Drivers must be at least 21 years of age.
- Must satisfy the requirements for Bus Driver set forth by the New York State Commissioner of Motor Vehicles.
