About the Role
The Assistant Director of Youth Services assists the Director of Youth Services in overseeing program services for UC in care and supervising Direct Care Staff. This role is responsible for the daily operations of the residential program, including child transfers, programmatic activities, and ensuring compliance with ORR policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Provide coverage and assistance to the Director of Youth Care Services in all aspects of direct care.
- Oversee the daily operations for the residential part of the UC Shelter and LTFC programs.
- Ensure the program is implemented effectively for the safety of children in care and sufficient supervision.
- Provide direct supervision of the Floaters team.
- Implement appropriate staff to child ratios to ensure a safe environment.
- Approve staff scheduling and overtime requests.
- Respond to emergency situations that occur after hours and be on call as needed.
- Provide weekly or biweekly supervision to all direct reports.
- Ensure youth counselors are appropriately trained.
- Review documentation for youth on increased supervision.
- Assist in the coordination of travel logistics.
Requirements
- Associate's Degree in social science, psychology or a related field
- Child welfare experience
- Supervisory experience
- Bilingual Spanish / English
- New York State Driver’s License in good standing
