About the Role

This course exposes students to research and practical approaches in the context of health professions relevant to linguistics students, particularly audiology and speech-language pathology. Students will learn about evidence-informed practice, research methodologies, practice approaches, and theories in the health professions. Optional service-learning placements in research or clinical settings are available. Successful completion provides exposure and experience valuable for applications to audiology, speech-language pathology, and other clinical programs, as well as for future health or graduate studies.

Responsibilities

  • Preparation and delivery of course content
  • Development, administration, and marking of assignments, tests, and exams
  • Calculation and submission of grades
  • Holding regular office hours
  • Supervision of TAs or Graders as required
  • Design, teaching, and timely administration of a university credit course
  • Being fully available for the duration of the employment period
  • Being in geographical proximity to the University

Requirements

  • Solid background in speech-language pathology
  • Mastery of the course material
  • Ongoing research related to the course material
  • Clinical experience in SLP
  • Previous experience as an instructor in JLS courses
