About the Role
The Medical Assistant provides direct and indirect patient care in an office setting, recording, facilitating, and assisting with patient examinations and treatments. They also support office operations by covering reception, answering telephones, registration, appointment scheduling, and obtaining medical records.
Responsibilities
- Observes, collects, records, and reports selected data related to patient’s physical, psychosocial, environmental and self-care ability.
- Prepares patient for examination.
- Assists provider with medical procedures.
- Prepares treatment rooms for patient examination.
- Performs Point of Care Testing as appropriate.
- Maintains established inventory levels of medical supplies.
- Responds appropriately to patient’s issues and notifies the office manager.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Concentration needed to assimilate information from many different sources.
- Basic computer knowledge.
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or direct patient care experience.
- BLS certification within 6 weeks.
