About the Role
Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre is seeking a permanent Hematological Pathologist to join the Division of Hematological Pathology. The successful applicant will foster excellence in hematological pathology and education, with clinical responsibilities in bone marrow evaluation, flow cytometry, and genomic information. Opportunities for training in molecular sign out, laboratory management, and advocacy are available.
Responsibilities
- Provide clinical responsibilities in bone marrow evaluation incorporating clinical context, flow cytometry and genomic information.
- Competency in coagulation testing, hemoglobinopathies and core/special laboratory hematology.
- Facilitate training in molecular sign out (for interested individuals).
- Engage in laboratory management and advocacy initiatives.
- Participate in teaching of residents, fellows and medical students.
- Participate in applied research.
- Participate in quality improvement activities.
Requirements
- Eligible for an academic appointment at the rank of Assistant, Associate for full Professor at the University of Toronto.
- Hold a medical degree.
- Relevant Hematological Pathology Fellowship from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or equivalent.
- Eligible for medical licensure in the Province of Ontario.
- Applicants with Anatomic Pathology/Diagnostic and Molecular Pathology or General Pathology/Diagnostic and Clinical Pathology credentials must have completed a certified hematopathology fellowship or demonstrate equivalent experience.
- Candidates with a graduate degree (e.g. MSc, MBA, PhD) will be acknowledged.
- Must be eligible for an academic appointment in the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathobiology at the University of Toronto.
