About the Role
This newly created position offers an excellent opportunity to join a successful and expanding Private Client Tax department with genuine long-term career prospects. The successful candidate will play a key role in leading complex advisory projects, managing significant client relationships, and supporting the continued growth of the team.
Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of high net worth and ultra high net worth individuals, families, and trusts.
- Lead complex private client advisory projects across a broad range of tax matters.
- Advise on residency, domicile, and international tax matters, including new long-term residence, Temporary Repatriation Facility (TRF), and Foreign Income and Gains (FIG) rules.
- Advise on historic non-domiciled taxation, the remittance basis, and mixed fund rules.
- Provide advice on the UK Statutory Residence Test and double tax treaties.
- Deliver sophisticated Inheritance Tax planning, including trusts, wills, Business Relief, Residence Nil Rate Band, pensions, and succession planning.
- Advise on UK and offshore trust structures, Family Investment Companies, and property holding structures.
- Support clients through HMRC enquiries and respond to HMRC nudge letters.
- Prepare and review high-quality technical reports and deliver clear, commercial advice.
- Manage client relationships, budgets, fee estimates, and billing.
- Support business development initiatives and identify opportunities to grow client relationships.
- Mentor and develop Managers and junior team members.
- Work closely with Partners on strategic client matters and contribute to the continued growth of the Private Client Tax service line.
Requirements
- CTA qualified (essential).
- Significant post-qualification experience within Private Client Tax.
- Experience advising high net worth and ultra high net worth individuals within a Mid Tier or Big Four accountancy practice.
- STEP qualification would be advantageous.
- Strong technical knowledge across new long-term residence, TRF and FIG rules.
- Strong technical knowledge across historic non-domiciled taxation, remittance basis and mixed fund rules.
- Strong technical knowledge across UK Statutory Residence Test.
- Strong technical knowledge across double tax treaties.
- Strong technical knowledge across UK and offshore trusts.
- Strong technical knowledge across Inheritance Tax planning, including trusts, wills, Business Relief, Residence Nil Rate Band, pensions and other reliefs.
- Strong technical knowledge across property holding structures and Family Investment Companies.
- Strong technical knowledge across HMRC enquiries and nudge letters.
- Excellent report writing and technical advisory skills.
- Experience managing billing, fee estimates, budgets, and client expectations.
- Strong leadership and relationship management skills.
