About the Role
Under the direction of a radiologist, performs Cat Scan Procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision of technical detail. Performs a variety of technical procedures requiring independent judgement, with ingenuity and initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for imaging diagnosis. Assumes responsibility for designated areas or procedures as required. This position is two to three weekdays per week, typically Monday, Wednesday, and Friday 12p-830p, with additional weekend coverage as needed.
Responsibilities
- Entering patient data into Epic and other appropriate computer systems.
- Placing the patient on the scan table in the correct position for the scan.
- Obtaining appropriate scout images for procedures.
- Setting proper protocols and sequences to obtain high-quality images for radiologist diagnosis.
- Assisting the radiologist during biopsy procedures as needed.
- Monitoring the progression of biopsy procedures from the control room.
- Operating the injector when necessary.
- Photographing and labeling scan images.
- Processing and displaying final images on viewing machines for radiologist interpretation.
- Maintaining records of image slices, injections, etc.
- Observing all rules and regulations regarding radiation safety for patients and staff.
- Training other associates and students in CAT Scan procedures.
- Maintaining orderliness and cleanliness of the assigned area.
- Performing duties of a 4T technologist as needed.
- Performing other related assigned tasks.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Satisfactory completion of a formal radiologic technology training program that meets the requirements for certification by the ARRT.
- NYS Licensed/Registered Radiologic Technologist.
- ARRT Certification in CT.
- Radiographic film processor.
- CAT Scan Systems.
- Epic tracking equipment.
- OHS Fit Test/OHS Annual Assessment.
