About the Role
The Adult Program Manager is responsible for the strategic coordination and day-to-day operations of adult programs within The Jack and Shirley Silver Center for Diverse Abilities, focusing on adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This role supports program development, participant engagement, staff coordination, and administrative systems to ensure programs are organized, responsive, and impactful, while expanding accessible opportunities that promote independence, social belonging, and lifelong learning.
Responsibilities
- Develop and manage programming including social, recreational, life-skills, cultural, and community-based activities.
- Support program growth through planning, coordination with facilitators, and participant engagement.
- Ensure programming promotes social connection, community belonging, skill development, independence, and engagement with the broader JCC community.
- Collaborate with the adult programming team to identify service gaps and develop new program offerings for adults requiring higher support levels.
- Track program attendance, participant engagement, and feedback to inform program development and evaluation.
- Coordinate program logistics including room reservations, transportation, vendor coordination, and staff coverage.
- Oversee the discovery process for new families and conduct clinically based intakes.
- Assist in planning community-wide events, outings, and special experiences.
- Develop strong relationships with program participants and their families.
- Support participant onboarding and integration into programs, understanding support needs and appropriate program placement.
- Maintain regular communication with participants and caregivers regarding program schedules, expectations, and updates.
- Direct outreach to individuals' support teams when necessary.
- Provide in-the-moment support during programming to help participants navigate social dynamics, emotional regulation, and accessibility needs.
- Utilize crisis management skills when needed.
- Help cultivate a community culture that values respect, inclusion, belonging, and participant strengths.
- Support the supervision and coordination of part-time staff and social work interns.
- Assist with staff task delegation, program coverage, and scheduling.
- Provide guidance to interns and staff in inclusive facilitation practices and participant support.
- Collaborate on training opportunities for staff and interns working with adults with disabilities.
- Maintain and update internal program management systems for accurate scheduling, registration, and tracking.
- Assist in creating targeted program communications including weekly updates, monthly newsletters, and reminders.
- Ensure program information is organized, accessible, and up-to-date across internal systems and communications platforms.
- Track participation data and assist with program reporting.
- Lead or support several programs per week, modeling inclusive facilitation practices and participant engagement.
- Serve as a key point of contact during programs, ensuring a positive and supportive experience.
- Step in to support programming when staff or interns are absent.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Special Education, Psychology, Recreation Therapy, Disability Studies, or a related field.
- Clinical experience working with adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
- Experience coordinating programs, community initiatives, or recreational programming.
- Experience supervising facilitators, part-time staff, interns, and volunteers.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple programs and logistical details simultaneously.
- Comfort working both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Must attend in-person programming including on Sundays when applicable.
