About the Role

Wells Fargo is seeking a Technology Director to lead the transformation of critical Capital Markets platforms supporting Product Control and Volcker reporting within the Corporate & Investment Banking (CIB) division. This role is accountable for defining and executing a multi-year transformation strategy to modernize and stabilize the Product Controller platform, enabling scalability, improved risk transparency, and alignment with the Markets Division’s growth objectives. The platform requires significant enhancement to meet current and future business needs, presenting a unique opportunity to drive large-scale architectural and operational change. Reporting into senior CIB leadership, this role serves as the primary technology partner to the Head of CIB Product Control and will also oversee the application ecosystem supporting Volcker reporting, including evaluating opportunities for platform consolidation and rationalization. The successful candidate will combine deep capital markets expertise with strong engineering leadership and will be responsible for delivering high-impact business outcomes through technology innovation and disciplined execution.

Responsibilities

  • Define and execute the technology strategy and transformation roadmap for Product Control and Volcker platforms
  • Build, lead, and scale a high-performing engineering organization, including managers and senior technical leads
  • Partner closely with Product Control, Risk, Finance, and Front Office stakeholders to align technology solutions with business objectives
  • Drive modernization of legacy platforms, improving data integrity, scalability, resilience, and time-to-market
  • Establish and enforce best practices across software engineering, architecture, security, and operational excellence
  • Ensure strong risk management, controls, and regulatory alignment, particularly in relation to Volcker requirements
  • Oversee financial management, resource planning, and vendor strategy for the platform
  • Influence and communicate effectively with senior executives and cross-functional leaders
  • Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement
  • Represent the organization in interactions with regulators, external partners, and industry forums
  • Own and manage the end-to-end technology relationship with CIB Product Control and Volcker stakeholders
  • Lead the transformation and modernization of the supporting application ecosystem
  • Drive platform simplification, scalability, and alignment with enterprise architecture standards

Requirements

  • Experience of Technology Strategic Leadership experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • Experience of experience in technology leadership, with 4+ years leading large engineering teams and managers
  • Proven experience delivering and transforming front-office or Product Control platforms within Capital Markets
  • Deep expertise in Capital Markets products, Risk, and P&L attribution, including associated business processes
  • Hands-on experience implementing risk and P&L systems, with strong engagement with traders, quants, finance, and risk engagement
  • Demonstrated ability to define and execute large-scale platform transformation strategies
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to operate across both technical and business domains
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and executive presence
  • Experience in Technology Strategic Leadership, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, education
