About the Role

Okta is seeking a skilled Globalization Engineer to manage and enhance the automation and technology stack for its localization team. This hands-on role requires expertise in APIs, AI, and internationalization to solve complex technical challenges and consult with internal teams on global content readiness.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain the core automation workflows for the content lifecycle using agentic workflows, Python, and APIs.
  • Connect the TMS with content sources, repositories, and other internal tools.
  • Research, evaluate, and implement cutting-edge localization technologies, including AI/LLM-based solutions and advanced TMS features.
  • Act as the authority for resolving high-impact architectural failures and conduct root cause analysis on complex integration issues.
  • Consult with product and engineering teams by providing expert technical guidance and conducting i18n code audits.
  • Define best practices to ensure new experiences and features are architected for seamless localization.
  • Serve as the primary technical owner of Translation Management Systems (e.g., XTM, Smartling), responsible for configuration, maintenance, and optimization.
  • Develop and deploy 'self-service' tools for dev teams, such as pseudo-localization pipelines and i18n auditing, to enable early detection of issues.

Requirements

  • 6-8 years of experience in software or globalization engineering with a proven track record of architecting localization solutions at scale.
  • Expert-level proficiency in Python and leveraging APIs to build and maintain custom automation frameworks and system integrations.
  • Experience with enterprise CMS or MSM platforms (e.g., Adobe Experience Manager).
  • Proven, hands-on experience implementing and utilizing AI in localization workflows (e.g., custom MT pipelines, quality estimation, prompt engineering for LLMs).
  • Deep technical understanding of the localization landscape, including TMS architecture, content parsing, and a wide variety of file formats (JSON, XML, XLIFF, properties, etc.).
  • Ability to conduct code-level i18n reviews and provide actionable feedback to developers.
  • A systematic and analytical problem-solving mindset with a demonstrated ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues independently.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage and prioritize multiple technical projects simultaneously.
