About the Role

We are looking for a Head of Data, Private Investor to define the future of our business unit by making our private-company insights the most trusted in the market. You will own data methodology, quality, and accuracy, leading the work that gives investors confidence in how private AI & Software companies are truly performing. This role involves taking a nascent data product and building it into a market-leading source of truth, requiring hands-on work with data, redefining business logic, and eventually hiring and managing a team.

Responsibilities

Own trust of our AI & Software data end-to-end, including data coverage and accuracy.
Set data strategy and prioritization, determining which data sources and enrichment streams to invest in.
Optimize accuracy, coverage, cost, and complexity tradeoffs for datasets.
Optimize business logic for blending data sources into existing assets.
Design and maintain a world-class QA system with truth data benchmark sets and a QA framework.
Scale the data function from 1 to 10, building a team and culture that fosters data excellence.
Contribute to cutting-edge uses of AI in data, partnering with upstream AI and Data Engineering teams.
Lead pipeline business logic design, authoring refactor specs, defining panelization and outlier handling, and reducing data lag.
Serve as the data authority for private investor customers, leading accuracy escalations and investigations.
Support sophisticated customer diligence and translate data methodologies into digestible end-customer communication.

Requirements

8+ years in data-intensive roles with a track record owning data quality and methodology for a data product.
Experience building and scaling a data function, growing a team from early stage to meaningful scale.
Deep technical fluency and hands-on instincts, including SQL proficiency.
Ability to investigate data anomalies to root cause.
Ability to design, pressure-test, or critique pipeline architecture.
Experience applying AI/LLMs to messy data problems (tagging, classification, entity resolution, enrichment).
Practical understanding of how to evaluate, improve, and govern AI systems.
Skepticism of data quality and knowledge of where standards need to be uncompromising.
Bias for delivering to customers and ability to make judgment calls on output sufficiency.
Strong prioritization instincts and judgment for tradeoff decisions.
Clear communication skills for describing issues and explaining next steps.
Comfort with customers and experience working with investor clients is a bonus.
Ability to engage directly with end users and handle sophisticated client conversations.
