About the Role

Provides clinical and technical support for primary care providers, implementing planned care items using electronic tools for efficient workflow. Monitors equipment, performs clinical testing, and liaises with patients, families, specialists, and the healthcare team to ensure continuity and coordination of care in a patient-centered medical home.

Responsibilities

  • Performs pre-visit preparation for all primary care patients.
  • Collaborates with the primary care nurse and provider to "e-huddle" using the Planned Care Dashboard for complete primary care visits.
  • Prepares patients for telehealth visits, guiding them on video technology use.
  • Manages virtual telehealth sessions for multiple providers using Zoom, including setup, patient admission, and pre-visit preparation.
  • Supports clinical teams with paperwork collection, record requests, and scheduling follow-up visits.
  • Collaborates with providers and staff to facilitate appropriate telehealth patient flow.
  • Prepares patients for provider visits based on established criteria (e.g., sick, PE, WCC).
  • Accurately documents chief complaint and results from evidence-based screening tests.
  • Accurately performs and documents patient vital signs.
  • Independently and accurately performs appropriate CLIA waived tests, EKG, hearing & vision tests.
  • Prioritizes work responsibilities to decrease waiting time.
  • Assists other team members as needed.
  • Schedules tests and referrals for specialty care according to Provider orders in a timely manner.
  • Maintains a clean, orderly, and safe working environment.
  • Oversees supply maintenance and documents in medical logs.
  • Sets up, stocks, and cleans exam rooms at the end of each workday.
  • Adheres to all infection control standards, Universal Precautions, and safety policies.
  • Maintains yearly CPR certification.
  • Exhibits excellent customer service skills with a focus on quality of care and teamwork.
  • Complies with Agency mandated in-service training workshops.
  • Communicates clinical/client information to providers accurately.
  • Accurately takes messages and communicates on the telephone.
  • Communicates effectively with other medical assistants and collaborates with providers and nursing staff.
  • Maintains client confidentiality according to CHC policies.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalency.
  • Completion of a Medical Assistant course from an accredited/recognized school.
  • Medical Assistant board certification (AAMA, NHA)/registration (AMT) or achieved within 90 days of hire.
  • EKG use, appointment scheduling, word processing and computer skills, and familiarity with medical testing procedures.
  • Sound organizational skills and accuracy.
  • Demonstrated excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Team-focused with demonstrated leadership qualities.
  • Current American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer and AED (CPR/FPR/AED) certification or current American Heart Association BLS/AED for Healthcare Providers certification.

Salary/Compensations

  • $21 per hour
