About the Role

The Senior Electrical Engineer provides coordination of project execution and control to achieve continuity of purpose to meet scope, schedule, budget, safety, and quality goals from project start through construction completion and warranty period. The position is responsible for leading the planning and development of engineering tasks for assigned proposals and projects.

Responsibilities

  • Completes engineering designs, technical research, construction drawings, specifications, Basis of Design, Design Quality Control Plans, calculations, reports, and quality control reviews.
  • Assures the efficient and expeditious completion of projects to the client's satisfaction.
  • Assists the Project Manager in estimating and tracking project deliverables, costs, schedule, quality, and safety.
  • Leads and coordinates a design team for assigned projects, if applicable, or provides technical support personnel during field investigations.
  • Responsible for all design decisions of the projects assigned and for checking the work of professional and technical staff assigned to projects.
  • Prepares or checks calculations.
  • Selects equipment and material for projects and/or approves manufacturer's shop drawings.
  • Consults and advises clients on methods, equipment, and other items pertinent to their project.
  • Monitors and evaluates contractor's performance and reports progress to client, where applicable.
  • Maintains and expands technical capabilities and know-how on design projects.
  • Assigns tasks to and directs engineers, technicians, and administrative staff.
  • Evaluates profitability and tracks project budgets, schedules, safety, and quality using standard company tools.
  • Completes requests for subcontractor and vendor quotes, develops written scopes of work (RFP) for bid packages, obtains and evaluates quotes, and manages subcontractors and vendors.
  • Responds to client RFPs with written technical approach and market competitive pricing.
  • Leads the development of design and construction projects, developing project sequence, identifying staff requirements, mentoring, and training junior staff.
  • Completes arc flash studies using SKM, ETAP or equivalent software.
  • Develops language for arc flash panel labels using arc flash studies or code tables.
  • Maintains deliverables, analytical results, and field notes in project files.
  • Assists with report writing, proposal preparation, and engineering/construction cost estimates.
  • Works effectively with project teams and directs Engineering Assistants on design and investigative tasks.
  • Analyzes, interprets and presents data.
  • Meets time sensitive deadlines and carries out multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Maintains a valid driver’s license, passport, and can travel.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering with at least 10 years of experience.
  • Registered Professional Engineer with active NCEES account and ability to quickly obtain registration in additional states as required.
  • A DoD security clearance is required for this position or the ability to obtain one.
  • Demonstrated understanding and awareness of health and safety practices and design for safety approaches.
  • Ability to complete and maintain OHSA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification and 8-hour annual refresher training.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office software.
