About the Role

Assist with the day-to-day supervision of assigned students and support classroom-wide Positive Behavior Supports. Provide staff training in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), Autism Spectrum Disorders, and related disabilities. Trained in SCIP.

Responsibilities

• Provide training and supervision to teachers and teacher assistants in implementing behavior analytical interventions for skill acquisition.
• Support teachers in developing IEP goals based on criterion-referenced assessments.
• Assist teachers in troubleshooting student progress by analyzing the learning environment and student needs, providing evidence-based suggestions.
• Analyze and interpret data trends for students' educational goals.
• Provide Behavior Intervention Services (BIS) as per student's IEP mandates.
• Train teachers and teacher assistants on school-wide positive behavior supports, monitoring implementation and classroom management.
• Manage student behavior, including determining support levels, conducting observations and assessments (including Functional Behavior Assessments), and developing behavior support plans.
• Implement and monitor behavior data collection procedures for students.
• Provide training and supervision on behavior support plan implementation.
• Maintain records of all behavior data collection.
• Adhere to BCCS Behavior Support Procedural Guidelines.
• Respond to and supervise emergency interventions, completing necessary documentation and family correspondence.
• Maintain communication with home-based providers for consistent implementation of behavioral and educational strategies.
• Initiate and attend Interdisciplinary Team Meetings to discuss and problem-solve behavioral concerns.
• Attend IDT, CPSE, and CSE Meetings as needed.
• Provide individual parent training sessions as per student's IEP mandates.
• Host parent training groups and supervise individual training.
• Remain current with State and Federal Regulations regarding service delivery.
• Coordinate and collaborate with Board Certified Behavior Analysts at alternate sites.
• Ensure the health and safety of all students during the school day.
• Establish effective communication with parents.
• Provide direct supervision of BCBA candidates.
• Cooperate and conduct self in a manner appropriate to an educational setting.
• Adhere to program-specific policies and procedures.
• Participate in program-wide activities and act appropriately.
• Participate in activities and seek support to enhance knowledge relevant to students.
• Attend and participate in required in-services and staff development.
• Attend and participate in supervisory sessions.
• Be proficient in reviewing standardized testing to assess student ability levels.
• Collaborate with clinical service providers to ensure comprehensive student programs.
• Adhere to general policies including Code of Ethical Conduct, emergency preparedness, fire/safety, in-service education, policies and procedures, self-development, and infection control.
• Undergo annual physical examination and Mantoux testing.
• Demonstrate understanding of the needs of children and visitors for each specific age group.
• Address safety and psychological needs of special age groups.
• Address the needs of special groups (hearing impaired, physically challenged) and facility issues.
• Maintain child and family confidentiality.
• Be courteous and considerate in interactions with children and others.
• Exhibit a positive and approachable attitude.
• Respond quickly to requests from children and/or parents/guardians, referring to the appropriate team member if necessary.
• Maintain BCBA certification.
• Demonstrate ability to communicate and interact effectively across cultures, disabilities, genders, ethnicities, and races.
• Demonstrate ability to recognize and manage personal behaviors to create an inclusive, equitable, and welcoming environment.
• Demonstrate ability to deliver culturally responsive services to students and families.

Requirements

• M.A. or M.S. in Psychology (TC 322) or Special Education (TC 323).
• Certification as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).
• Knowledge of assessment and treatment through Applied Behavior Analysis teaching techniques in an education and/or residential setting.
• Knowledge of ICF regulations.
• Physical aspects may include lifting and transferring of a student.
