Responsibilities

  • Support the Nurse Manager with supervising and supporting RNs and other nursing support caregivers.
  • Supervise admissions, conduct assessment of patient's needs and initiate nursing care plans.
  • Evaluate and document patient progress.
  • Facilitate the planning, implementation, development, and evaluation of nursing programs, initiatives and objectives for the unit.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure efficient and effective delivery of health services in a unit.
  • Serve as a liaison between the manager, caregivers and other areas within the organization.
  • Identify and resolve issues affecting the delivery of patient care services in a unit.
  • Prepare schedule of work assignments assuring adequate coverage.
  • Participate in and support quality improvement projects, outcomes studies and research initiatives.
  • Assist in orienting new caregivers.
  • Participate in continuing education and in-service educational programs.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN)
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) must be presented upon hire or within first year of employment if in a Critical Care area
  • Two years of recent RN experience
  • Strong demonstrated clinical knowledge and skills
  • Previous supervisory experience
  • Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
  • Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
  • Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
  • Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.
  • Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
  • Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
  • You will be required to comply with the influenza prevention program, which will include obtaining an influenza vaccination on an annual basis or obtaining an approved exemption.

  • Medina Hospital’s 2 East unit is a 15-bed nursing unit providing professional care to post-surgical orthopedic and spine patients and is fully equipped to provide care for stable telemetry patients requiring ongoing cardiac monitoring.
  • The unit delivers care to adult and geriatric patients in a manner that accounts for their age and developmental needs, with age-specific competencies required and completed annually.
  • In addition to patients undergoing total joint replacement, the unit manages care for individuals requiring revisions, as well as lumbar and/or cervical decompressions, fusions, and laminectomies.
