This is a hands-on leadership role for an individual with extensive plant knowledge, strong project management skills, and a passion for sourcing, negotiation, and nursery management.
Responsibilities

- Support project managers and estimators with pricing, availability, and substitution guidance.
- Track upcoming purchasing needs and flag availability issues before they become schedule problems.
- Communicate directly with clients on plant-related updates and substitutions.
- Build and maintain strong nursery/supplier relationships, and source new vendors as needed.
- Coordinate with PMs, vendors, field crews, and nursery staff on deliveries and install timing.
- Receive, inspect, and document incoming deliveries.
- Supervise 3–5 nursery employees and assign daily tasks.
- Monitor irrigation, plant health, and seasonal protection across the nursery.
- Prep and verify material for installation — right plant, right quantity, right condition.
- Maintain purchasing records, vendor quotes, and inventory tracking.
Requirements
- Experience in plant purchasing, nursery management, horticulture, or landscape construction.
- Strong knowledge of trees, shrubs, perennials, grasses, and commonly specified cultivars.
- Sharp negotiation, organization, and problem-solving skills.

- Proficiency in Excel and Outlook.
- Ability to communicate daily work assignments in Spanish.
- Valid driver's license.
- Experience buying for commercial landscape construction.
- Familiarity with Northeast wholesale nurseries and suppliers.
- Understanding of plant sizing, root-ball specs, and seasonal digging restrictions.
