About the Role
The Director, Insurance Supervision is responsible for leading, developing, and coaching a team of supervisory staff. Key responsibilities include risk identification and assessment, planning, directing, and overseeing supervisory activities. The role also involves collaborating with various teams and specialists to ensure timely risk assessments and consistency in supervisory processes. The Director will provide insights and advice to management and influence supervisory methods and regulatory policy.
Responsibilities
- Leading, developing, and coaching a team of supervisory staff responsible for the supervision of one or more insurers.
- Identifying and assessing risks.
- Planning, directing, and overseeing supervisory activities.
- Ensuring supervisory work is risk-focused, aligned with the mandate, and supports timely intervention activities.
- Ensuring supervisory work is consistent with risk-driven resource allocation requirements.
- Supporting supervisory work for new applicants.
- Collaborating with supervisory teams and specialists across various hubs and sectors.
- Ensuring timely and appropriate risk assessments.
- Contributing to consistency in supervisory processes.
- Performing interagency liaison on key files.
- Providing meaningful and timely insights and advice to management.
- Influencing supervisory methods and regulatory policy.
Requirements
- Must have a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with specialization in business, commerce, economics, finance, mathematics, actuarial science, accounting, or a related field OR an acceptable combination of relevant experience and education or training.
- Significant insurance industry (life or property and casualty) experience in managing a team or managing projects that involve people leadership.
- Significant insurance industry (life or property and casualty) experience in developing and delivering presentations to senior management or boards of directors of financial institutions.
- Significant insurance industry (life or property and casualty) experience in identifying, assessing, and critiquing financial or non-financial risk in financial institutions OR managing and controlling financial or non-financial risk in financial institutions.
- Ability and willingness to work overtime.
- Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally when required.
- Ability to work remotely from home within Canada with access to the Internet.
- Must be able to work on-site on a full-time basis from the OSFI office.
- Must agree to be deployed into another REX position within OSFI at the same level.

- Relevant graduate degree (MBA, MAcc., MFin., etc.)
- Relevant professional financial designation (CERA, CPA, CA, CGA, CMA, CFA, FRM, FCIA, etc.)
Salary/Compensations
- $167,700.00 - $209,400.00
