Responsibilities
- Oversee and direct services that enrich the lives of individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities.
- Ensure compliance with state and OPWDD regulations and agency policies.
- Hire, train, and supervise direct care staff.
- Ensure all programming needs are met, including scheduling, staff development, and physical plant.
- Maintain the program budget and ensure timely billing, payroll processing, and fund utilization.
- Supervise and work alongside Direct Support Professionals in a residential setting.
- Collaborate with Human Resources and DSP Administrators for staff recruitment, selection, hiring, retention, training, and professional development.
- Track direct care staff training due dates for compliance.
- Complete staff performance agreements aligned with Core Competencies.
- Provide performance feedback and initiate progressive discipline.
- Create, review, and ensure the implementation of service plans.
- Ensure high-quality rehabilitative services and person-centered activities are planned and conducted.
- Meet with individuals' circle of support to address programming needs and concerns.
- Ensure the program operates efficiently and within budget specifications.
- Ensure staff complete documentation thoroughly and timely for maximum billing.
- Ensure the safety of all individuals and team members.
- Ensure routine maintenance and cleaning of vehicles and physical plant.
- Coordinate and lead program operations for quality of care and efficiency while maintaining regulatory standards.
- Report and resolve incidents and compliance issues promptly.
- Maintain individual charts and ensure documents are scanned and filed appropriately.
- Inspire and promote customer satisfaction.
- Participate in the agency's on-call rotation and respond to emergencies.
- Complete program staffing schedules and ensure appropriate coverage.
- Review and approve staff timesheets using technology.
- Organize, multitask, and prioritize duties efficiently.
- Provide personalized interactions to ensure high-quality services.
- Act in a professional and visionary manner, communicating effectively.
- Complete and provide training programs.
- Attend departmental, agency, and relevant community meetings.
- Maintain a valid, unrestricted, insurable driver's license.
- Perform other duties as needed or assigned.
Requirements
- Demonstrate all skills and attributes outlined in the NYS DSP Core Competencies.
- Ability to work in a diverse and inclusive environment with individuals of various abilities.
- Complete all mandatory trainings within the first 90 days and maintain recertifications.
- Professionally and effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
- Understand regulations and document services in real-time utilizing electronic technology.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize job responsibilities.
- Respond timely and effectively to emergency and crisis situations.
- Be proactive to identify, report, and resolve safety/medical concerns.
- Ability to accurately count money and complete basic math and banking transactions.
- Complete training to become approved medication administration professional (AMAP) certified and accurately administer medications.
- Participate in team meetings and service plan meetings.
- Ensure service plans are written accurately following life plan meetings.
- Provide person-centered, culturally competent services.
- Provide continuous care and maintain approved staffing ratios at all times.
- Provide on-call coverage for primary site and assigned cluster of sites.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to a team of DSPs.
- Ability to access reliable transportation.
- Maintain a valid, unrestricted, insurable driver's license.
- Must be capable of performing all SCIP Interventions.
- Able to provide hands-on care to individuals with various physical disabilities.
- Ability to perform various household cleaning tasks.
- Occasional lifting of 25+ pounds, occasional pushing/pulling of 25+ pounds, and occasional reaching and bending.
- Ability to ascend and descend stairs.
- Ability to participate in light to moderate physical activities.
- Ability to utilize various electronic devices.
- Provide transportation utilizing vehicles ranging in size from sedans to large passenger vans.
- Exposure to pets may be required at certain sites.
