About the Role
This position supports lead designers on bedding/bath product development for complete lifestyle collections, while learning essential technical, analytical, and strategic design skills.
Responsibilities
- Learn technical and analytical skills needed to design and develop product.
- Support lead designer throughout the total design process.
- Open packages daily, determine sample request and priority, retrieve design specs, and organize samples for review.
- Coordinate with the PD team to relay sample feedback to vendors and communicate urgent feedback.
- Maintain daily showroom organization and update the sample archive.
- Coordinate with the Designer to discuss sample donations and ensure proper merchandising or storage.
- Manage incoming and outgoing samples to maintain studio neatness and follow sample donation processes.
- Follow Designer direction for deadlines, support projects based on urgency, and juggle multiple projects.
- Work closely with designers and product development to pass information through PLM and other software systems.
- Easily find and provide project/development updates or information in systems for fast and accurate answers.
- Review tracking systems for incoming and late samples and coordinate with product development for deliveries.
- Help maintain an organized brand sample library for design and quality reference.
- Follow procedures and understand the importance of system processes for efficient projects.
- Organize and maintain accurate files and references on all projects in company systems.
- Update Manager with current status of design projects.
- Meet deadlines in a timely manner and communicate status updates to Designer.
- Address all matters in a timely fashion regarding inter-office duties, customer interactions, and outside vendor/licensor communication.
Requirements
- BA/BFA in Design/Textile Design or Design-related major (Textiles, Product Development, Home Fashions, or Apparel).
- Experience with weaving, general knowledge of how fabrics and materials are woven and dyed.
- One to two years of Home Fashions experience with CAD and related home product development fields.
- Strong working knowledge and proficiency in Photoshop and Illustrator.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.
- Documented experience in the Design field from college and work.
- Strong color-sense and knowledge of current trends and lifestyle brand aesthetics.
- Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and successfully prioritize workload.
- Excellent communication skills (written and oral).
- Strong organizational and analytical skills.
- Ability to prioritize work, be self-motivated, and work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to handle confidential information.
- Experience in product design and specification for manufacture.
- Experience with and ability to meet deadlines for design development and production.
