About the Role

Our summer internship programme in Amsterdam offers a unique opportunity to experience life as an engineer at IMC. You will gain insight into algorithm complexity and data structures, understand IMC’s business model, and build connections with trading and technology teams. You will work on a relevant project with support from trainers and a mentor, benefiting from a competitive compensation package, corporate accommodation, catered meals, and IMC’s collaborative culture.

Responsibilities

Enhance knowledge of algorithm complexity, data structures, and writing fluent code.
Support the development of the trading platform and software stack.
Gain experience across the entire software development lifecycle by collaborating with traders, researchers, and hardware engineers.
Help identify, implement, and validate changes to IMC’s trading algorithm and system.
Enhance coding skills by participating in individual and collaborative hackathons and technology challenges.
Attend workshops, presentations, trainings, and social activities with the full internship cohort.

Requirements

In your penultimate year of study in computer science, software engineering, or a related field, graduating in 2028.
Proficient experience in a programming language (Java or C++ preferred).
Thrive working in an environment where creativity, teamwork, and innovation are recognised and rewarded.
Desire to make an impact on meaningful and challenging projects.
Outstanding analytical skills and a desire to solve complicated problems programmatically.
Genuine interest in financial markets (no prior knowledge or experience required).
Must be able to start the internship on June 28, 2027.
Must obtain the required visa and/or permit to enter, stay and work in the Netherlands.
Must be able to obtain a Schengen visa before the start of the internship if required.
