About the Role
The Senior Drainage Design Engineer will lead the design and implementation of drainage and stormwater management systems for major infrastructure projects in Ontario. This role involves collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and delivering high-quality engineering solutions. This position sits within our Mobility Global Business Area, focusing on designing thriving and connected cities and communities.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of innovative and effective drainage and stormwater management systems for infrastructure projects.
- Provide guidance in hydraulic and hydrologic modeling, stormwater management, and erosion control.
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure efficient and high-quality deliverables.
- Ensure designs comply with local, provincial, and federal regulations and industry standards.
- Collaborate with engineers, architects, and stakeholders to integrate drainage solutions into broader project designs.
- Conduct field inspections and site assessments to verify drainage system quality, functionality, and performance.
- Prepare comprehensive technical reports, detailed drawings, and precise specifications.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers and technical staff.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in drainage design and stormwater management, with a focus on infrastructure projects.
- P.Eng (Professional Engineer) designation with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) is required.
- Proficiency in hydraulic and hydrologic modeling software (e.g., HEC-RAS, SWMM).
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, Openroads).
- Proficiency in GIS applications.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical information clearly.
